Shortly after we began planning our Appalachian Trail hike, our good friend John Gurney was diagnosed with metastatic malignant melanoma.
It became apparent to us that this hike had a greater purpose —

Our 2015 hike became a fundraiser to assist the family with his treatment costs as friends donated pennies per mile.
John went to be with the Lord in 2016 but his life continues to be an inspiration to us and so many others.
“And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” Hebrews 12:1-2
